Cheap Grace

Question: Describe the differences between cheap grace and costly grace as explained in this weeks reading by Dietrich Bonhoeffer? Answer: Forgiveness is preached without required repentance or any church discipline without baptism or communion devoid of confession is referred to as cheap grace. On the other hand, costly grace is defined as the treasure which is hidden in the field. This grace is called costly because it makes the people follow Jesus Christ and this also costs his man his life.According to the cheap grace, the sins of the sinner is justified and not the sinner himself. According to Luther, the sinners remain same even in the best life, and they shouldn't remodel themselves to Christ's commandments. Costly grace gives a man his true life; it criticizes one's sins and justifies it. It is God's sanctuary so it needs protection and asks to follow Jesus's life. It compels to submit to Christs yoke and living the gods word. References Ambrus, Attila, Eduardo M. Azevedo, and Yuichiro Kamada. "Hierarchical Cheap Talk".
